Happy Christmas
What an interesting Christmas Day we’ve had. The elves woke us a little after 5 and confirmed to us, and everyone around us still trying to sleep, that Santa had indeed found his way to the Dinter Caravan. He managed to find his way in, settled down for a quiet beer, fed a carrot to Rudolph, and then left, without waking any of us.
We were all very happy with the gifts Santa left for us. Jacqui received some lovely pearls, I collected a 32gig i-pod Touch, Zach and Tom each received a digital camera, and Jacob got some very noisy dinosaurs. Everyone seemed to be happy with their bounty, particularly as these major gifts were supplemented with an extensive variety of stocking fillers. I’m not so sure where it’s all going to fit but I’m sure we’ll find some space.
We spent the morning testing our new toys and picking away at all the special Christmas nibblies Jacqui had laid out, all the time wearing our Christmas hats, even when we logged on for the occasional skype call. We spoke with Mum & Barry in the morning, then all of Jacqui’s family as they gathered for Christmas lunch and then we hooked up with Martina and David and their gang. Between calls, we had a feast of ham and salmon for lunch and then we spent some time at the playground, just outside the caravan park.
Jacob gave his last dummies to Santa last night so he was very grateful to find a lolly dummy with lips under the tree from his god parents, Lisa and Michael. We’re missing the family and friends at the moment but with our friends calling us, and our families joining us via skype, we’ve felt close to the people most important to us. Jacqui has done a fantastic job to ensure the boys haven’t missed out on anything they’d normally enjoy had we been at home, and they’ve told us that it’s been a fantastic Christmas.
After some time at the playground, we cooked up a second feast of BBQ’d prawns and salad for dinner, where we met some more European travellers, (Dutch this time). We followed up with some Christmas pudding and custard to finish, while we watched an old Leyland Brothers DVD Santa brought me. No matter how much I explained it, the boys just can’t get their head around how the Leyland Brothers paved the way for Steve Irwin.
Merry Christmas,
Jorg & the gang.
