Zero Minus 15 Days

We finally collected the new Swan Outback from the Jayco dealership at St Marys on Wednesday afternoon and with a lot of excitement, mixed in with some 'where do we put stuff', angst, we loaded her up and went for a weekend trial run. Being the creative types we are, we went a total of 4.5 kilometres down to Narrabeen Lakeside Caravan Park. At $55/night I thought it seemed a little expensive but it has good quality amenities and we had a beach view from the site. Another reminder of the fantastic place we live in. It was also close enough to home that if we found we were missing something, we could go home to get it.
Once we’d checked in, we found the site and managed to get the van set up in no time at all. It only took about 20 minutes to get the van level, the roof up and the door in place. While Jacqui organised the inside, I struggled to get the awning up and as it got dark, I decided to settle for having just the roof up. We settled in for the evening reasonably satisfied with our 1st effort.
Saturday began with us enjoying a leisurely breakfast before I again takled the awning. After a quick visit to K-mart to collect a step ladder and some timely advice from Jacqui, The awning sides joined the roof and our home away from home was complete.
I was surprised at how much space there actually is inside. Once the awning is in place, we have plenty of room to move around and we can all sleep comfortably. The mattresses are a bit hard but I’m sure we’ll get used to them. Overall it’s been a good test and with a couple of minor additions, I’m happy we can survive 3 months on the road.
Bring it on!

  3. You have gone to alot of trouble just to be away from the family at Xmas this year. I suppose having been caught out with the previous "we are doing charity work on Xmas day" would not work or could not be used for a second time.

We all know you are just having an extended stay at Narrabeen Caravan Park and will be sending us pictures obtained from the internet.

  4. Jorg, I am sure your trip will be just like the old days when your wife allowed you to play golf. Many times in the sand, often in the water, zigzagging across the intended route, divots where you've been and all the backspin on your return.
