“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life”. I’m not sure who said it but in our case, it doesn’t really matter. If the Dinter’s need to rely on catching fish for the table, we’re all destined to starve. A local suggested fishing at Willies Creek on the morning high tide so we got up relatively early, set up the rods, and headed off via the bait shop. It must have been the wrong bait but if nothing else, Willies Creek is a beautiful spot that was worth the visit, even if good eating fish have never graced its pristine waters. The fish must still be hiding from the 4m Saltwater Crocodile someone caught there in 1992.
By lunchtime, we’d collected all the sunburn we could carry and headed back to the pool at Cable Beach. At midday it was already 42 degrees on the car thermometer so lying around the pool looked like an inspired idea. The heat scared Jacqui off the sunset camel ride for today so a bottle of wine watching the sun disappear into the ocean was the best we could do following a stiflingly hot Sunday. Hardly a poor option and hopefully the pictures show what a great time we all had. We hunted for shells, dipped out toes in the warm Indian Ocean, watched the camels come in, and generally enjoyed the ending of a very warm day.
Finally for today, one of the blog readers must be confused. To anonymous; when I refer to the Birds here being fantastic, I’m referring to the feathered varieties that wake us up every morning. We have a veritable orchestra of singing birds breaking into song from about 4:30 each morning. No other subtle innuendos are intended but thanks for the input. I’m sure you’ll understand why your comment hasn’t been posted. Maybe next time you could attach your name.
Cheers,
Jorg
