Day 51 Kalbarri

Make that 9 times.
While Jacqui and the boys sat on the beach at 7am waiting for the dolphins, I asked the Conservation Department representatives and volunteers, if the dolphins don’t turn up for three days in a row, did they expect violence or bloodshed?. They all laughed, and then I asked do you guys have a safe room you can all run to when things get ugly? They all laughed again, and then began looking around for a safe escape route. Surely they wouldn’t not turn up three days in a row? If there are no dolphins at Monkey Mia, there’s no need for Monkey Mia. I quietly snuck back to the van to begin the pull-down before things got ugly and by about 9:00, the family had gotten tired of sitting on the beach, watching the gentle lapping of the waves on the sand, and not seeing dolphins.
We tried to sneak out without attracting any attention but the flat battery made things a little tricky and we didn’t manage to get under way until about 10:30, courtesy of the newly purchased Battery Link Jump Starter.
We spent most of the day on the road with only a couple of stops for food and petrol. These became more exciting as on each occasion, the car failed to start and we had the joy of calling on the services of the Battery Link Jump Starter, 3 times. It was particularly exciting at the service station with the cars lined up behind us.
We settled into Kalbarri late in the afternoon and after a swim and a quiet dinner, we began planning how we’d get to Natures window tomorrow, after putting in a new battery.
Cheers,
Jorg
